Phraya Narin Songkram, the Guardian of Phu Wiang

In life, Phraya Narin Songkram (Thongkam) was a general of Lord Anuwong of Vientiane. When a war between Siam and Vientiane erupted, his army was defeated. Originally consisting of 3000 soldiers, he fought on until the last moment with only 6 men left.

Siri Sombat temple(forest monastery)

The pathway of faith, Siri Sombat Temple looks no different than any other temple at frst glance. When viewing from the curved road, however, you can see the bridge leading from the temple, crossing rice felds into the village. This is the pathway that Buddhist monks use to take alms in the morning.

Song Sila (Tham Kwang)Temple

Built back in 1932, this temple was called by villagers as “Tham Kwang Temple” (Thai: deer cave temple). Father Thongma Sutthadhammo, the famous buddhist monk of Northeastern Thailand, used to live here. The temple is located on a beautiful mountain with lots of caves and formations, a perfect scenery for those who love sightseeing.

Tham Pha Gerng temple

Tham Pha Gerng temple is located on the Phu Wiang mountains. Visitors can fnd a large Buddha statue and a Naga statue on the top of the temple. Tham Pha Gerng temple is home to many sculptures of famous monks and a jade buddha statue inspired by the famous emerald buddha.

Doi Saengdharma temple(forest monastery)

Located under the sylvan shade of Phu Wiang woods, the serene Doi Saengdharma temple was built from scratch by its inhabitants; both monks and buddhist neophytes. The abbot mentioned that this improved their focus and everyone felt participated, being one with the temple.

Ming Muang Pattanarama temple

Ming Muang Pattanarama is also known as “museum of the great father Thi”. He was a famous abbot of this temple and was well-known for his sacred religious artifacts and talismans. The building itself was built in Rattanakosin style and shaped like a church.

Kittiyanusorn temple (forest monastery)

It started when a father, Boonchantra Kittiyano, spend his dharmic journey here on the mountains in 1997. He built a small hut, which then encouraged the believers to help clearing the area as they build a temple. The highlight of this temple is the sleeping buddha statue and the “Tan Jai” (Thai: instant) buddha statue, a sacred statue known to bring instant fortune to those who paid respect.

เพิงผาหิน หรือถ้ำเล็กๆ ที่มีพระพุทธรูปนั่งอยู่บนหินลึก เมื่อนานมาแล้ว เจ้าอาวาสนั่งสมาธิที่นี่แล้วชาวบ้านจึงสร้างวัดขึ้นในที่แห่งนี้ ปัจจุบันวัดยังเป็นที่ตั้งของอาคารและพื้นที่สำหรับประกอบพิธีกรรมศักดิ์สิทธิ์อีกด้วย

Tham Phra Satit temple

A small cave with buddha statue sitting atop a rock deep in it. Long ago, abbots meditated here and the villagers then built a temple in this place. Currently, the temple also houses buildings and areas for carrying out sacred rituals.

สามีภรรยาคู่หนึ่งได้บริจาคที่ดินผืนหนึ่งเพื่อสร้างเป็นวัด ตามตำนานกล่าวว่าบริเวณนี้เป็นประตูสู่โลกพญานาคเบื้องล่าง ส่งผลให้วัดนี้มีประติมากรรมที่ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจากพญานาคอยู่มากมาย เป็นสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวที่มีชื่อเสียง มีเจดีย์จุฬามณีที่สวยงามล้อมรอบด้วยกำแพงแก้วใส

Kaew Chakrapat temple

A couple donated a piece of land to be built as a temple. The legend said that this area is a portal to the Naga world beneath. As a result, this temple holds many sculptures that are inspired by Naga. It is a famous tourist attraction with beautiful Chulamanee pagoda enclosed in clear crystal walls.

Chantraram Temple

An old temple of the past built over a century ago, Chantraram temple houses one concrete building and three wooden buildings. Two ancient buddha statues were kept here.

A temple with many abbots throughout history and wooden buildings, this gem of the forest holds a large buddha statue within its walls. The statue measured three-metre in width and four-meter in height

A temple of time’s memory, the Phol Paeng temple displays many artifacts that reflect the history of Phu Wiang local people in the past. Fishing equipments, ancient loom for silk weaving, farming deviced made of wood, and culltural crafts are some of the items you can fnd here. Local ceremonies are also connected to this temple as people would shower the ancient buddha statue to bring them good fortune
